DESTINATION FOUND!

I've beat the system!  I recently complained about the Destination Guide and it's inability to "guide" and after lots of trying I finally figured out a fix!

I don't know enough about computers to understand how this works, all I know is that it does.  I've tested it many times to be sure!

If you go to the Destination Guide via the right hand "side menu" then you will not be able to search by category.  If, however, you search something from the very top right search menu and THEN go to the Destination Guide via that window it will allow you to categorize!!!!

Let me know if this works for you!

Blessings,

Moirae

PS....I just tested it again.  It really works! :)

Polar Pictures!!!

Off to see SannyClause!
I am very much aware of the fact that my blog has been lacking visual stimulation lately...it just seems so hard to find the most appropriate picture for the job when I have hundreds (dare I say more?) saved on my computer!  I decided that with most of the world decorated to the nines, I would get festive and take some Christmas pics.  And what better place to do that than the North Pole?  http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Porvoo/185/36/116

Me, Elfy and The Most Famous Reindeer of All!

Me and The Main Man!  Consulting on the naughty list...I had some recommendations. ;)

Shhhh!  After all that hard work, 'lil Elfies have to sleep!

Graceful as always.  :)
It was a fun little trip North and nowhere near as chilly as I expected!  *giggles*  With all the fabulous winter decorations out there and the heaps of super cute holiday outfits there are tons of photo op's just waiting to be captured!  I'll definitely include more pictures here from now on. :)

Blessings,

Moirae

Destination Not Found?

What is with the Destination Guide?

It's been broken for a while - I can't seem to search by category and like most things, you don't realize how much you like something until it's gone!

The other day I logged in and rejoiced when I was clicked my chosen category (because I try every single day!) and it actually worked!  I should have known it was too good to be true....

I miss the viewer I had when I first came into this world....everything was so much simpler then.  The good old days.  ;)

Blessings,

Moirae

New Years Rez-olutions!!!

In January of 2011 I will be 5 months old (which seems so young!) and yet I have spent so much time here that it feels more like 5 years!

When I first re-emerged I wasn't exactly sure what this life would hold for me and so far I'm happy to discover that I'm really enjoying myself!  I've found a lot to keep me occupied however there are a few things I've wanted to do more of and with the New Year on it's way I figured I'd take the time to write up a few "Rez-olutions"!  I've kept the list short so that is it somewhat attainable.  So without further adieu...*ahem*

***Moirae's New Years Rezolutions for 2011***

1.  Be More Social!!!

For so many people Second Life is a very social activity.  I've read a lot of blogs with accounts of friendships and relationships that clearly run deeper than the typed word.  I have to admit the idea of a relationship in SL is a bit scary (as is it in RL...*sigh*) however I can't help but think that without at least trying to connect to this social side of life, I am somehow missing out.  I am going to try to meet more people and do a much better job of keeping in touch with those that I've met so far.

2.  Attend Regular Mediations at Kannonji

Discovering Kannoji opened my mind to a whole other side of SL - one I never expected to find but was so happy I did!  I have long wanted to explore Buddhism and have felt that it's a natural direction for me.  I'd really like to take advantage of this most amazing resource!

3.  Find someone to speak French with!

Eventually I'd like to use voice with someone (to really practice the rrrroll of my rrrrr's!) but I'm a little too shy at the present moment.  :)  I was in french immersion for many years and would really love to brush up on my francais.  I'd really like to find a native french speaker who would like to practice their english - a little SL exchange student program.  :)

***

I know it's a little early but I've always been inspired by the energy of a New Year.  Maybe I will think of a few more things to add to the list.  Or ways I can go about achieving my goals!

Blessings for the rest of 2010 and beyond!

To Be Or Not To Be

Lately I've been considering membership in SL......

How many of you are members?

I can't decide if it's really the way to go.  When I was searching for a house I went so far as calculating the monthly membership fee vs. the average monthly cost of the homes I was looking at.  I'm still renting my skybox so I guess you know what my findings were!

What are the other perks?   The prim limits for the houses aren't bad...better than what I have now.  A weekly allowance isn't bad either especially considering I've spent the last few months investing in the major purchases.  I wonder what this adults only continent, "Zindra" is like?

I'm a bit of a commitment phobe (to say the least!) so this is a major decision for me.  *winks*

Are you a member?

Let me know what you think!

Blessings,

Moirae

The Kids Aren't Alright.

Having just agreed upon the new Terms & Conditions regarding age requirements for SL, I decided I would finally post my feelings on children being in Second Life.

I hesitated to post about it for a long time because I believe  to "live and let live".  Just because I don't like or don't understand something doesn't mean that I can't accept it.  An it harm none, do what ye will.  I'm a believer!

I understand that child characters provide a different creative outlet, lend themselves to different role play storylines and (with romantic relationships being such a huge part of the SL experience) are a natural progression for people who want to take their relationship/family to another level.  I get all that.

Unfortunately, I think it's a slippery slope that I personally don't want to go anywhere near.

I don't like it.  That goes for child avatars being controlled by adults and people playing the game that are under the age of 18.  I'm sorry to offend anyone but that was my first reaction upon seeing a child in world for the first time (in an adults only region of course) and my feelings haven't changed.

The first time I ever spoke a child avatar, I felt like a total creep even though all I did was reply that her outfit was also "very pretty".  That's it!  It just felt wrong.  With everything we (as adults) know about the Internet and how vulnerable children are here, it just doesn't seem right to involve them in the game.

I am openly critical of the decision to allow users 13 years of age and over in the game.  With the obvious understanding that where there's a will there's a way I don't think we need to make it easier for real children to become caught up in the make believe world that adults create.

I will post more on this another time, I just needed to put that out there.  Mostly just to open the discussion....what do y'all think?

I am always open to creative, thought-provoking communication and welcome your comments any time! :)

Blessings as always,

~Moirae

Back from Reality.

It started like a little snowball that gradually grew and grew.  It grew so big that it over came me and eventually had it's way.

RL can be like that sometimes.

I think I've managed to make my escape back to SL....for now.

There is so much catching up to do!  Stay tuned for a flurry of frenzied posts....

Attaching Multiple Objects with Viewer 2.2 - ADD is the new WEAR

It has occured to me that I have a tendancy to ramble on so if you really want to get to the point of this post, scroll down to the last paragraph.  Possibly even the PS.  *giggles*

One good thing about all the changes in Second Life is that it makes a fairly new faerie feel like a veteran with all that I've seen in 3 months!  I can't imagine the differences those who've been around for years have seen!

Previously I had figured out how to attach multiple objects to the same point because a bow for your hair just ain't that cute if you can't wear the hair to go with it!  Bald is beautiful but in a world where anything is possible, I'd like to reserve that option thank you very much.  *adjusts hairdo'*

The old method required searching some kind of "multipleobjects" setting under the debug menu.  Worked great!  Enable it and attach away.  Good times.

After my recent inventory fiasco I had uninstalled SL and downloaded the new viewer, 2.2.  So far so good (I haven't even looked at the beta version...I'm all about the babysteps!) until I "detached all" and then realized that I wasn't able to wear all the gadgets I normally prowl around in!  I can wear hair and other things in the same place but my HUDS just didn't want to co-exist.  It was pick or choose time again - wtf?  So I remembered my recent SL resuscitation and realized that my settings had probably (obviously) defaulted.  Fine.

Only.....there was no more "multipleobjects" bug thingy!!!

Sure enough, google around, discover that this hidden little gem is gone for good.  *pouts*

So, there is a lot of info out there on attaching multiple objects.  Some videos seem waaaaaaaaay too complicated.  As far as I can tell, all you have to do is right click the object from your inventory and instead of wear it, you "ADD" it.

Problem solved!  :)

Blessings,

Moirae

PS.....I've been playing around and it doesn't seem that bad.  But if you find yourself having problems, try this "add" button!

Inventory Issues - Advice when panicking over inventory loss.

They're back.  *triple checks*

Yes!  They've come home!  All of my lovely little goodies.  YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  *happy dance*

*knocks on wood*

When the problem started I had posted for help but then deleted the post when I cleared my cache and things "appeared" to be ok.  I should have known not to celebrate too soon.

At first it was 4 folders missing items.  The only things that remained in these folders were items that were saved as part of an "outfit".  I went to the secondlife wiki (again, it was full of outdated information!  Grrrrr.)  and tried all the tricks.  From the majority of the responses in the forums a simple clearing of the cache normally works.  Most of the time.

If, like me, you've tried everything and still nothing - TRY THIS!!!!!

Normally, you clear you cache as follows:  Advanced > Clear Group Cache

THE ADDITIONAL STEP THAT HELPED ME WAS THIS:  Me > Preferences > Privacy > Clear History

I am trying not to get too excited but for now, things seem to be ok on the homefront.  Now I am going to research how to back up my inventory.  I'm not sure if this is possible....but I'll find out!

What a day!

Blessings,

Moirae

Inventory Issues - help?!

Ok.  Something is definitely going on.

I thought all was well when I cleared my cache, relogged and waited 5 minutes for my inventory to load fully.  I checked the one hair and one wing folder where I knew items were missing and they had returned!  Thankfully.

I later discovered I have another hair/wing folder that is missing items!  The only ones that remain are those that happen to be part of a saved "outfit".

To make matters worse - the hair that I recovered yesterday is now gone again!!!!

What is going on?!

Yesterday I deleted a good 1,000 items and now have a total of approx 8,000 items.

If anyone can give me any tips on how to back inventory up or make things reappear I'd be forever grateful!!!!!!

Worried blessings,

Moirae

Fancy Feet

True to form, I spent all afternoon deciding which of the Stiletto Moody styles I wanted to buy - it's so hard to decide!

I had seen a picture of the "Katherine" in Midnight and even though there are so many other beautiful shoes, I ended up going with my first choice.  After all that!   And practical as I am, even at 70% off (see my previous post regarding the sale)  I had to get them in black so they would match more outfits!  *giggles*

Here they are!  I also purchased the add-on with the tattoos, charm bracelets and polish colors which was also 70% off.  Even with the discount, these are without a doubt the most expensive shoes I own.  Proudly.  *smiles*

Stiletto Moody Bare "Katherine" in Black.  (Still trying to get my skin matched perfectly!)
One thing I love about spending some extra coin is the extra-good service you get for it!  (Most of the time.)  At Stiletto Moody you can have items "redelivered" if you've purchased them before and have lost them for whatever reason.  This was not only a nice benefit but almost became a life-saver when I returned home to unpack and realized a good chunk of my inventory was gone! Panic ensued.  After several relogs, a couple of restarts and a little bit of googling I tried clearing my group cache and thank Buddha - my stuff returned!  Whew!

Each shoe also comes with a notecard that explains how to best wear your new shoes.  They come in 3 sizes and you can resize the ankles and change the skintone to match your own.  Awesome!  They have some really decent default shades but the best part is that you can tweak them to match the exact color of your own skin!

There is something called an "RGB" and it's a number (ie...123-456-789) that is designated to a particular shade (pardon my amateur lingo!).  I was a little frustrated that 99% of the information on secondlife.com pertains to the old viewers and the ability to find your RGB seems to have disappeared with Viewer 2.0.  You used to be able to find this "show color under cursor" thingy but that seems to have gone away.

But you can still do it!  Here's a tip - take a picture and use a personal program to get the color.  If you're not sure exactly how to do that with what you've got, I found a sweet little FREE download that serves the purpose perfectly.  Download http://www.linxexplorer.com/colorpicker.html and get your personal RGB so you can match your feet to your legs.  What a concept!  *laughs*

I probably won't be wearing these a lot but they are great party shoes!  And on that note, I'm heading out for a night on the town - I feel like dancing!

Blessings,

Moirae

A Fae's Right to Shoes - SALE ALERT!

Love at first sight.  Not with someone.....but with something.

Look at this shoe!!!

Just one of the many amazing styles!

How am I only just finding Stiletto Moody now?  I would complain except that today, the day I stumbled across the most amazing footwear I have ever seen, the store is have a 70% OFF SALE!!!!!!!!

Shoes for everyone!  You must join the group and have the tag active at time of purchase.
Kick off those old clunkers and race on over to the store http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Stiletto%20Moody%20BARE/78/35/45 for your chance to get a super luxurious item (they are NOT cheap at regular price) for a steal of a price!   The sale is on for 3 days only and I have no idea when it started.  There is no time to waste!

Look at all the options!  I'm getting this add-on for sure!
I haven't decided which of these beauties I will call my own yet but it has occurred to me that I can purchase 3 for the price of 1 so you never know what I'll come home with!  I rarely wear shoes like this but these creations are a must-have for any collection and with this sale going on - it's the perfect time to grab a pair!

You know what they say....if the shoe fits, buy it in every color!  ;)

Happy Halloween!

I wonder if I will go through Halloween withdrawals after today?  I doubt the parties for Remembrance Day will be as exuberant (though I hope there will be much recognition!)

Will the Christmas season bring the same pizazz and excitement as Halloween?  There seem to be a few hunts starting again this month but I can't help feel a little deflated.  Where will I wear all my cute witchy outfits now???  Perhaps I need to spend more time at the Sacred Cauldron.  *smiles*
I decided to find some monsters to mash with!
Most of my day today was absorbed by RL but thankfully I managed to get oot and aboot for a late Halloween party at the Love Bugg Club.  *giggles*  http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Lovers%20Lagoon/128/34/23  I found it on the http://www.secondlife.com/ events list.  (One thing that has always cramped my style is the timing of many events in Second Life...there is so much planned during the middle of the day!  Mama's gotta work!)

I was drawn to the club because they were also having a costume contest and I'd collected so many cute outfits in my hunting over the past month that I was dying to get dressed up!  Go figure that after rifling through hoards of halloween outfits I ran back to a store I'd seen in my travels and picked up something entirely new.  *blushes*  Any excuse to shop!

I decided on this "Alice in wonderland" outfit by AliciaKay Kilara at "A Touch of Ireland." http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Cork/86/120/23  I'd seen it before and there are several in the collection that I love just as much - I had to have it!  I furled up my wings, threw on my little black booties and my long red hair and hit the dance floor.

Me and a friend from Wonderland.  He never made it to the party.  ;)
DJ Jenniferbugg Blackflag was playing an amazing set of tunes and I had no problem keeping my music cranked the entire time I was there.  It was great!  At one point she mentioned there were 54 people on the sim however I think that included the haunted house (that I have yet to check out - the landmark wouldn't work!  too busy maybe?) but it was packed on the dance floor and everyone there looked amazing! There were robots, superheros and demons angels and all of them had exceptionally fine dance moves.  *laughs*

We were all bustin' a move when it was time to announce the winners for this round of the costume contest (one for men, one for women) and guess what?!

I WON!!!

Yep!  Couldn't believe it!  Of course I was briefly AFK at the time and was shocked when I came back and scrolled back through the chat.  Yaaay!

The prize was $500L and with the tip for Jenniferbugg and the cost of the outfit I still made a decent profit.

This is the first thing I've ever won!  *grins*

Hope your Halloween was as safe and prosperous!  :)

Bloodcurdling blessings,

~Hair Flare~

Of all the things I enjoy shopping for, nice hair is the hardest to come by.  Perhaps it's because I insist on being a fiery red head? *winks*

In my "Celebrating Gaia" hair from Chi-Chickie. Found this on a hunt! It's a whole-lotta-hair!
Most of the hair I find that I really love doesn't come in a red that suits me, if it comes in red at all!  Not to mention the countless number of "fake" hairstyles out there.  Maybe some fae want to look like a cartoon, but not this one!  So far I have found a small handful of vendors who have a selection of hair (with those glorious reds!) that looks realistic and provide a good variety of styles.  Yay!

Most of the pictures you've seen of me have been in my Cake hair in the "maroon" shade that I adore.  I think I was spoiled when I found Cake so early on as I love curls and movement in my locks and their soft styles are tough to beat!  http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/FNKY%20Cake/129/76/23

Cake - my top choice for hair.
As I'd mentioned in my post about skin, Laqroki http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Laqroki/155/53/30 has some beautiful hair that is some of the most realistic I've seen!  Unfortunately their selection of reds is really lacking.  I would buy every single style if they had them in red!  *pouts*

Most recently I've discovered Maitreya http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Maitreya%20Isle/178/175/23 and though there is nothing like the maroon shade at Cake, their styles come in "shade-packs" so for $295 (it ain't cheap to look good!) when I make a purchase I get that particular style in every shade of red they provide.  Pretty fabulous if you ask me!  Here are some pictures of the two styles I purchased tonight.  I was after a braided style and while shopping realized I never wear my hair straight so, voila!  I have now added two new looks to my repertoire.  *grins*

Recently discovered Maitreya.  Hair is so soft and pretty!
There are several other honorable mentions (Truth and Magika to name a few) and I hope I've only just begun to scratch the surface!  If you know of any other GREAT hair designers please let me know.  :)

I'm considering changing my hair white/silver for the upcoming winter holidays.  I'm assuming it'll look better with all the snowy goodies that are on the way!  I just can't get enough goodies!  *giggles*

Hope you're have a great Hair Day!

Blessings,

Moirae

~Home Sweet Home~

Sitting by the fire relaxing in my new front yard.
As I had mentioned before, RL has brought some distraction to the soul of this fae recently and there are many things I've meant to write about lately that for one reason or another, have fallen to the wayside.

One of these things is the fact that my search for a home has finally come to an end!  For some in SL (especially the explorer type like myself!) there isn't much need for a home however I enjoy having a little patch of ground to touch down on every now and then.  I've set up a little yard, I can unpack all of my goodies there and I've even met a few neighbors!  All for a cool $200L/week.  :)

I had been searching all over the grid  (a search that lead me to a lot of interesting places) however it got to the point where I was really wasting time, visiting the same places over and over.  I just couldn't make up my mind!
*giggles*  Here I am being a creep.  Stalking out someone's home.  It was amazing!  I made sure there was no one home and didn't B&E.  I promise. ;)
I loved my little home at Faekin Hall and though a room was really all I needed, it was hard to pass up all of the beautiful treehouses and mystical faerie homes that I discovered.  There are some magnificent places out there!  Eventually I think I'd like to start developing some land of my own but for now, I have taken to the skies where my little rental plot is everything that I need and more!

Having a glass of Fae wine on the last night in my room at Faekin Hall.

Inside/Outside shots of 3 of the 12 styles available.
I wasn't sure about skyboxes in the beginning but when I came across Duke McDonnagh's rental properties http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife//241/3/21, I was really impressed!  After I spent a good day deciding which of the 12 skybox styles I would like to rent, I was thrilled to discover that all 12 styles come with your weekly rental!!!  There are many other perks that come along with having Duke as a landlord and when I was having troubles in the beginning, he was very patient (sending me the group invite 3 times!) and even visited my property to remove a mysterious red chair.

I'm really happy there and have just renewed my lease for another month.  Oh, the prim limit is 50/month so I have found some great places that offer low prim landscaping decor at reasonable prices - feel free to ask me!  The flowers in the pictures are one prim each (side) and come with butterflies!

Maybe I'll have a visitor over some day!  *giggles*  I've still been keeping to myself the majority of the time and most of the friends I've acquired are of the animal-kind.  I will be introducing someone very special shortly so stay tuned!

Blessings,

In the Dark Room

With the Autumn season in full swing and Samhain soon approaching, the creatures of the dark are beginning to emerge and the world has taken on a spooky feeling.  There are witches, wizards, goblins and ghouls running amock all over the place and it's hard not to get caught up in the spirit of things!

In the span of my short life so far, I have spent the majority of my time in a magical place called The Elven Forest.  http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Blossom/122/187/54  I plan on writing about it but recently I've had a lot of distractions and I hope to dedicate a post (or three!) to this place I've been enjoying so much.

Currently there is a photo contest happening which inspired me to start playing with photography a little more than usual.  I had just finished the Witches Brew Hunt and was geared up with all things Hallowe'en so the new theme in "The Forest" made for the perfect backdrop.  I was inspired!

My new inspiration lead me to sign up for a Flickr account - if you have one too please add me as a contact!   http://www.flickr.com/photos/moiraeloorden/

I said in my profile that I am prone to bouts of seriousness...I guess this is what they look like!  *winks*

Blessings,

Moirae.

Hunting Hiatus

Ok, I'll admit it - I got caught up in the hype.  A victim to the propaganda,  I have spent the past 3 days on a hunt.

Look at 'em all!  Just a few of the hunts happening right now.
Some of them are very difficult and it took me a while to find one I could stick with.  Luckily, though, most come with a good hintlist and a helpful group of hunter-friends who don't mind sharing a tip or two.  But the tricky ones are going to require a little more help.

I've since picked up a few tips that will probably help in the hardest of hunts:

Moirae's Helpful Hunt Hint #3.
1.  Make sure your environment is set to "daytime".  If you are caught up in the hunt you may find yourself looking in the dark without realizing it - why make it harder for yourself?

2.  Use your cam to look in all the nooks and crannies.  Also, some of the landmarks can be pretty laggy so this helps.

3.  ***BONUS HINT***  Ctr+shft+r   I'm not sure what this is called but a very helpful little witch showed me this setting when I was as close as I've come to giving up.  Once your eyes adjust to the new view this makes the little hunt items stick out from the rest of the world.  Tricky and very helpful!

There are 125 items on the Witches Brew hunt and I am currently searched for number #111 (and I already have #118, which I found by accident while I was lost!).  Almost there!  I felt a touch of dread when it occured to me at about #75 that (as I have yet to open a single item) I have no idea the quality of the prizes I have been so passionately pursuing!  I'll have to keep my fingers crossed - there's no turning back now!  I'll be sure to add some pictures of my prizes when I get home and unpack.  This will be a chore in and of itself!

Little cauldrons - come out, come out wherever you are!
I'm not sure how many more hunts I'll complete - this is exhausting!  I'm so curious though, I find it hard to resist.  Thank Buddha curiosity never killed the fae.   Right?  Right?!  :)

Happy Hunting!

Harvest Ball Bust!

I was SO looking forward to attending the Annual Harvest Festival in Avilion this weekend but alas, it wasn't meant to be.  :(

One of the many things to do in Avilion!
As it was, I knew I would be hard pressed to attend any of the events.  I managed to catch a raft race and was tempted to join in but had to leave early and never got to see the end.  There was a closing ceremony and a ball that I was really looking forward to, so much so that I finally made a decision at Caverna Obscura and bought the "Savannah" butterfly gown.  It was sure to be a hit!  *giggles*

I was under the impression that it began at 6:30pm SLT so I arrived fashionable late at approximately 7pm.  I went to the ballroom and immediately met a new friend who came a little too close to stepping on my brand new gown!  It's delicate wings would have crumpled under his heavy boots but underneath all that armour was a gentleman as he apologized profusely and made up for it with a dance.

My new friend made up for his misstep with grace on the dance floor.
As we were twirling across the ballroom floor, I was admiring the attire of those around me and it was then that I realized how few of them there were!  I told my friend that I was hoping to attend the Harvest Festival Ball and wasn't sure that we were in the right place.  I checked my calendar and sure enough (I think?), we were in the wrong place.

He had to leave shortly so I ran ahead and tried to find the right location.  I stumbled across a sign which said that ball was happening until 7:30pm....I looked at my pocket watch and my heart sank - 7:31pm.

All dressed up with nowhere to go!  ("Savannah" gown, Caverna Obscura)
I was so disappointed!  I thought the ball would be a good chance to mingle with a group of people I have wanted to get to know.  I have watched them from a distance (even met a few, thanks for my friend DD!) and it would be nice to join in on some of the fun.  Not only that but I was really looking forward to wearing my new gown in front of more than a mirror.  Too bad!

I'll have to wait until the next event I guess.  Avilion seems to be a very active community and I'm sure there is something in store very soon.

Oh I also have to comment on the beautiful autumn changes to the scenery at Avilion and across the grid.  I love it!  The leaves are turning magnificent colors and they're falling into pretty little piles all over the place!

The Hot Air Balloon Tour.  In all it's Autumn Glory!

I love autumn!

Blessed be,

Demo Dollar Disgust

Demos for a dollar.  Seriously?  In my opinion this is taking advantage of those of us with a little money in our pockets.  It feels as if the assumption is...."You're spending $500L on hair...you won't mind $1L to try the demo first".

Not impressed.
All of these Demo Dollars certainly add up - for the consumer and certainly for the vendor.  If someone can justify this to me, I'd love to understand the reasoning behind this crazy scheme.

I can tell you this much - if I am going to spend > $500L on hair, I want to try on as many styles as I can before I make my decision.  In doing that, I may even end up purchasing two!  But when I have to spend my hard earned Lindens on a Demo well.....that really burns my faerie butt and I'll probably go elsewhere.  At first I didn't mind but - where does it end?

I am boycotting Dollar Demos.

Blessings as always!  ;)

Re-Skin-Vented.

I did it.  It took the span of two days (I'm ashamed to admit the exact amount of time) but my makeover is finally complete!

There were so many choices, from so many vendors, that making a final decision was a pretty daunting task.  Quite honestly I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that I could have spent the rest of my days shopping for a new look!  I had to pull the plug - and quick!

The New Me!  With my hair down, swimming in Elven Forest.
Thanks to a little research, I began my quest armed with a list of 5 vendors whom I'd heard sold skins that weren't too overdone.  Most of the popular skins were completely unrealistic and I didn't not want to look fake, nor did I want to look the same as everyone else.  I'm sure there are other great places to buy skins and I now know that I'll keep my eye out and when I find that "perfect" look I won't pass it up but until then, I started with these three:

I am by no means an expert on this topic - exactly the opposite!  I just wanted to look pretty without spending all of my time or money.  It was amazing how many people are asking complete strangers for money in these stores - apparently it's against the rules and people would shout out a warning whenever a "beggar" was in action.  I just can't imagine doing that to someone!  It happened to me once at "Cake" too.  Do people actually fall for this and give their money away?  In my past life, on my first day of existence, a complete stranger gave me $1,000L and I had no idea at the time what a generous gesture it was.  I wondered for a moment if I should "pay it back", so to speak, but I just didn't like the begging-style.  Tacky!

Doing the Vampire thing.  Not exactly what I was looking for.  :)

It's all a blur to me now but I remember that I was pleasantly surprised at Redgrave.  I'd heard they've been around for a long time so I assumed they had more out-dated looks (and a few of them were, certainly those with lower price tags...) but a few of them were really cute!  But something just wasn't right.  They didn't fit my eyeballs (again with the damn eyeballs!) and I wasn't looking for something I had to alter.

My next trip was to Rockberry and I really loved these skins!  I thought the faces were really pretty and had a very soft look.  I love the freckles and the soft make-up but in my opinion the body definition was lacking.  For my personal preferences anyways.

Last but not least - LAQ Bodyshop.

This is where I ended up making a purchase but it was only after I narrowed it down from about 30 demos.  The selection was great!  I really don't know if the prices are in line but I paid $1,990L for 10 looks.  They had everything from completely natural, freckle faced girls to the super-smokey, sultry faces of the "ladies of the night".  It was great!  I tried on so many things.  They also have this really fun "hot oil" you can purchase which I'm sure comes in handy for some x-rated activities but I thought it would be cool to use after swimming or when at the beach.  Just a little something "extra" that swayed me to LAQ.  Once I saw the hair base/hair attachment thingies for glow skins - I was sold.

Even though I didn't purchase anything in the hair department (please come out with more red headed options!!!!!) I was blown away by the effects.  You wear these funny looking little head base pieces and the hair you attach is photo-realistic and moves so naturally!  I have learned that I am EXTREMELY picky when it comes to hair (so far I have only purchased from Cake) so this was a great find!  I need to make sure I've joined any Laqroki update groups so I can keep posted for any new releases - definitely something to look forward to!

Hair at Laqroki.  The only red option - hopefully not for long!
I am utterly exhausted by this expedition so I'm off to bed - only one more week in until I have to move out of my little faerie home!  My next mission will be to find a new place, hopefully some of those places I saw when I was previously looking are now available.  If I'm going to spend the next few days house-hunting at least I am going to look damn good doing it!  ;)

Skin-decisive...

Does this make up make my boobs look big?  ;)  One of the more "intense" demos I tried.
I have decided that purchasing beautiful skin is probably the hardest and most expensive decision I will have to make!

How does one decide?  There are SO many options to choose from and once you've narrowed it down to a few that you really like, you've got the challenge of choosing between (in my case anyways) a handful of looks that are almost exactly the same!  I'd like to buy them all but then it doesn't make much sense to have 10 looks that are almost exactly the same.  And at $1,500L a pop (to start) this is not the kind of collection I want to start!  Though it is tempting.....

My photo album is exploding with explicit pictures of myself at the moment.

I hope to have made a decision soon so look forward to a post with my new look and a few pics of the "trial & error" phase (hilarious and sometimes scary).

Wish me luck!

These Eyes...

I was wandering through aisles and aisles of eyeballs to the point where I started to resemble the strung-out peepers peering back at me when I suddenly had an epiphany.

One of my dearest (and only!) friends happens to be a super talented designer who, among other things, has a selection of beeeeautiful, VEIN FREE, eyeballs in her store.  And they are all a steal at only $50L each!!!

Let's have a staring contest!  I love my new glare.  ("Emerald Paradise" eyes at Dreamscaped Designs)
Her name is Dreamscaped Dagger and she is a beautiful, friendly and talented (did I say that already?) Fae of the Mist in Avilion.  I think she spends a lot of her time designing her clothing (etc) line and landscaping her property.  She has invited me to her home and it is a great example of her artistic visions....she has a beautiful horse (I forget his name, sorry D!) there and I hope to have one of my own some day so we can go riding!

She has a store called "Dreamscaped Designs"  and it can be found at the Woodland Market in Avilion.  D tells me she has a new design she is in the process of displaying in the store as I write - I can't wait to see it!  She has four gorgeous sets of eyes to choose from and several classy outfits with pricetags that are just as devine!   Here is the Surl:  http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Avilion%20Mist/44/219/9  You have to find the Avilion Woodland Market...."Dreamscaped Designs".  Not the main market, the one under the trees with the little pond.  Keep your eye on the prize people!  Don't get distracted - find her store and help support one of SL's up and coming designers!
Stalking out my friend's store while she's not there!  "Dreamscaped Designs" in Avilion.
Ms.Dagger has been so kind to me from the very start, sending me links on clothing design (which have convinced me that I do not have the capacity nor the patience to learn!  Never say never though....), showing me around the grid...("the grid"....that's SL lingo....I'm gettin' the hang of things!)  and even introducing me to a friend or two.  From the moment I met her we would say almost the exact same thing at the same time - like peas in a pod!

I haven't made many friends in SL yet as I've been going on lots of solo expeditions and working on my inventory but I feel very lucky to have met Dreamscaped and I hope to consider her my friend for a long time to come.  :)

Here's looking at you, kid!

PS....I have a picture of D and I in my SL photoalbum but can't seem to save it to my computer.  Anyone know how?

The Eyes Have It. (And by "it" I mean creepy veins.)

I'm shopping for eyes in the marketplace as I write this and I'm noticing a disturbing trend...

I realize that a lot of people stay up all hours of the night playing in SL but do our avatar's need to suffer the consequences too?  Why does their appear to be such a high demand for the blood-shot, tired looking eyes of an insomniac?  Are there that many avatars looking for the stoner look???

They look really creepy, if you ask me.  Some come in versions with more veins, less veins, etc.

Ewww!!!

I hate eyeballs.

I just want to find some pretty green ones and move on with it!

May your eyes always be bright!

Faerie Stylish.

One of the things I enjoy most is.....*drumroll*......shopping!!!!  Surprise, surprise.  :)

And there's no shortage of it.  When I was brand new I spent a great amount of time wobbling aimlessly through the freebie aisles trying to find something that suited my tastes.  Not always an easy task!  Over time I have found some GREAT freebies (ask me about them!) but it certainly is treasure hunt.  One that never ends!

Decisions, decisions!  Thinkin' 'bout what to buy. ("Dream Thief" outfit by Caverna Obscura.)

I eventually got my hands on some coins to purchase goodies with and boy what a thrill it was to venture beyond the crowded, noisy freebie stores!  Quite quickly I came across a designer who's creations really caught my eye.  Every time I saw something I liked, her name was attached!  (I have since discovered that she is the designer of my dreams and that nothing else I've found has compared.  This is both a blessing and a curse!  *giggles*)

There is a lot more to this outfit. Long skirt, flowy sleeves, collar. ("Anariel' outfit by Caverna Obscura)
Thankfully she has a great selection (and two lucky boards offering the best prizes around!) so I should be ok for a while. It's hard to hold back! Especially since she sells "megapacks". *dreamy sigh* Since fluttering in her frocks I have been complimented on my outfits so many times that I just can't put off writing about it any longer!

When you visit Caverna Obsurca Main Shoppe,  you start at the base of a tree with teleports directly to what you're looking for.  If this is your first time, forget about teleporting!  You've gotta take a stroll.  A charming little island is entirely dedicated to the store so take your time and resist buying anything before you've seen it all - trust me!  This includes the lucky boards.

Sitting in the treetops, waiting for my lucky letter. Made a great friend here too! ("Arlecchina" outfit by Caverna Obscura)

Get lots of compliments on this one.  ("Ambrosia" outfit by Caverna Obscura)
Elvina  Ewing is the (amazing!) designer and she has provided us with the chance to win some of her nicest designs.  Not just booties and wings my friends, I'm talking about entire outfits!  I am wearing one as I write this and am not exaggerating at all when I say that I'm complimented on it by almost every person I see.  That goes for my other 5 Caverna outfits as well.

As I said earlier, I'm having a hard time finding anything that I love quite as much as Elvina's designs.  If she ever reads this I hope she doesn't mind my gushing.  I am constantly telling people about her designs and giving LM's to the store.  I'm going to try to put my first SLurl (?) on this page.  She has a website as well.
Put on some new hair for this one!  ("Spring Birch Dryad" outfit by Caverna Obscura)

Posin' at the bottom of the tree ("Gift Fairie" outfit by Caverna Obscura)

Currently I am trying to decide which of the Butterfly Gowns I would like to make my own.  They are all so nice!  This is the extent of my problems these days - it's a tough life!
Happy Shopping lovelies - see you at the tree!

Blessings,
