Happy Halloween!

I wonder if I will go through Halloween withdrawals after today?  I doubt the parties for Remembrance Day will be as exuberant (though I hope there will be much recognition!)

Will the Christmas season bring the same pizazz and excitement as Halloween?  There seem to be a few hunts starting again this month but I can't help feel a little deflated.  Where will I wear all my cute witchy outfits now???  Perhaps I need to spend more time at the Sacred Cauldron.  *smiles*
I decided to find some monsters to mash with!
Most of my day today was absorbed by RL but thankfully I managed to get oot and aboot for a late Halloween party at the Love Bugg Club.  *giggles*  http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Lovers%20Lagoon/128/34/23  I found it on the http://www.secondlife.com/ events list.  (One thing that has always cramped my style is the timing of many events in Second Life...there is so much planned during the middle of the day!  Mama's gotta work!)

I was drawn to the club because they were also having a costume contest and I'd collected so many cute outfits in my hunting over the past month that I was dying to get dressed up!  Go figure that after rifling through hoards of halloween outfits I ran back to a store I'd seen in my travels and picked up something entirely new.  *blushes*  Any excuse to shop!

I decided on this "Alice in wonderland" outfit by AliciaKay Kilara at "A Touch of Ireland." http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Cork/86/120/23  I'd seen it before and there are several in the collection that I love just as much - I had to have it!  I furled up my wings, threw on my little black booties and my long red hair and hit the dance floor.

Me and a friend from Wonderland.  He never made it to the party.  ;)
DJ Jenniferbugg Blackflag was playing an amazing set of tunes and I had no problem keeping my music cranked the entire time I was there.  It was great!  At one point she mentioned there were 54 people on the sim however I think that included the haunted house (that I have yet to check out - the landmark wouldn't work!  too busy maybe?) but it was packed on the dance floor and everyone there looked amazing! There were robots, superheros and demons angels and all of them had exceptionally fine dance moves.  *laughs*

We were all bustin' a move when it was time to announce the winners for this round of the costume contest (one for men, one for women) and guess what?!

I WON!!!

Yep!  Couldn't believe it!  Of course I was briefly AFK at the time and was shocked when I came back and scrolled back through the chat.  Yaaay!

The prize was $500L and with the tip for Jenniferbugg and the cost of the outfit I still made a decent profit.

This is the first thing I've ever won!  *grins*

Hope your Halloween was as safe and prosperous!  :)

Bloodcurdling blessings,

~Hair Flare~

Of all the things I enjoy shopping for, nice hair is the hardest to come by.  Perhaps it's because I insist on being a fiery red head? *winks*

In my "Celebrating Gaia" hair from Chi-Chickie. Found this on a hunt! It's a whole-lotta-hair!
Most of the hair I find that I really love doesn't come in a red that suits me, if it comes in red at all!  Not to mention the countless number of "fake" hairstyles out there.  Maybe some fae want to look like a cartoon, but not this one!  So far I have found a small handful of vendors who have a selection of hair (with those glorious reds!) that looks realistic and provide a good variety of styles.  Yay!

Most of the pictures you've seen of me have been in my Cake hair in the "maroon" shade that I adore.  I think I was spoiled when I found Cake so early on as I love curls and movement in my locks and their soft styles are tough to beat!  http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/FNKY%20Cake/129/76/23

Cake - my top choice for hair.
As I'd mentioned in my post about skin, Laqroki http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Laqroki/155/53/30 has some beautiful hair that is some of the most realistic I've seen!  Unfortunately their selection of reds is really lacking.  I would buy every single style if they had them in red!  *pouts*

Most recently I've discovered Maitreya http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Maitreya%20Isle/178/175/23 and though there is nothing like the maroon shade at Cake, their styles come in "shade-packs" so for $295 (it ain't cheap to look good!) when I make a purchase I get that particular style in every shade of red they provide.  Pretty fabulous if you ask me!  Here are some pictures of the two styles I purchased tonight.  I was after a braided style and while shopping realized I never wear my hair straight so, voila!  I have now added two new looks to my repertoire.  *grins*

Recently discovered Maitreya.  Hair is so soft and pretty!
There are several other honorable mentions (Truth and Magika to name a few) and I hope I've only just begun to scratch the surface!  If you know of any other GREAT hair designers please let me know.  :)

I'm considering changing my hair white/silver for the upcoming winter holidays.  I'm assuming it'll look better with all the snowy goodies that are on the way!  I just can't get enough goodies!  *giggles*

Hope you're have a great Hair Day!

Blessings,

~Home Sweet Home~

Sitting by the fire relaxing in my new front yard.
As I had mentioned before, RL has brought some distraction to the soul of this fae recently and there are many things I've meant to write about lately that for one reason or another, have fallen to the wayside.

One of these things is the fact that my search for a home has finally come to an end!  For some in SL (especially the explorer type like myself!) there isn't much need for a home however I enjoy having a little patch of ground to touch down on every now and then.  I've set up a little yard, I can unpack all of my goodies there and I've even met a few neighbors!  All for a cool $200L/week.  :)

I had been searching all over the grid  (a search that lead me to a lot of interesting places) however it got to the point where I was really wasting time, visiting the same places over and over.  I just couldn't make up my mind!
*giggles*  Here I am being a creep.  Stalking out someone's home.  It was amazing!  I made sure there was no one home and didn't B&E.  I promise. ;)
I loved my little home at Faekin Hall and though a room was really all I needed, it was hard to pass up all of the beautiful treehouses and mystical faerie homes that I discovered.  There are some magnificent places out there!  Eventually I think I'd like to start developing some land of my own but for now, I have taken to the skies where my little rental plot is everything that I need and more!

Having a glass of Fae wine on the last night in my room at Faekin Hall.

Inside/Outside shots of 3 of the 12 styles available.
I wasn't sure about skyboxes in the beginning but when I came across Duke McDonnagh's rental properties http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife//241/3/21, I was really impressed!  After I spent a good day deciding which of the 12 skybox styles I would like to rent, I was thrilled to discover that all 12 styles come with your weekly rental!!!  There are many other perks that come along with having Duke as a landlord and when I was having troubles in the beginning, he was very patient (sending me the group invite 3 times!) and even visited my property to remove a mysterious red chair.

I'm really happy there and have just renewed my lease for another month.  Oh, the prim limit is 50/month so I have found some great places that offer low prim landscaping decor at reasonable prices - feel free to ask me!  The flowers in the pictures are one prim each (side) and come with butterflies!

Maybe I'll have a visitor over some day!  *giggles*  I've still been keeping to myself the majority of the time and most of the friends I've acquired are of the animal-kind.  I will be introducing someone very special shortly so stay tuned!

Blessings,

In the Dark Room

With the Autumn season in full swing and Samhain soon approaching, the creatures of the dark are beginning to emerge and the world has taken on a spooky feeling.  There are witches, wizards, goblins and ghouls running amock all over the place and it's hard not to get caught up in the spirit of things!

In the span of my short life so far, I have spent the majority of my time in a magical place called The Elven Forest.  http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Blossom/122/187/54  I plan on writing about it but recently I've had a lot of distractions and I hope to dedicate a post (or three!) to this place I've been enjoying so much.

Currently there is a photo contest happening which inspired me to start playing with photography a little more than usual.  I had just finished the Witches Brew Hunt and was geared up with all things Hallowe'en so the new theme in "The Forest" made for the perfect backdrop.  I was inspired!

My new inspiration lead me to sign up for a Flickr account - if you have one too please add me as a contact!   http://www.flickr.com/photos/moiraeloorden/

I said in my profile that I am prone to bouts of seriousness...I guess this is what they look like!  *winks*

Blessings,

Moirae.

Hunting Hiatus

Ok, I'll admit it - I got caught up in the hype.  A victim to the propaganda,  I have spent the past 3 days on a hunt.

Look at 'em all!  Just a few of the hunts happening right now.
Some of them are very difficult and it took me a while to find one I could stick with.  Luckily, though, most come with a good hintlist and a helpful group of hunter-friends who don't mind sharing a tip or two.  But the tricky ones are going to require a little more help.

I've since picked up a few tips that will probably help in the hardest of hunts:

Moirae's Helpful Hunt Hint #3.
1.  Make sure your environment is set to "daytime".  If you are caught up in the hunt you may find yourself looking in the dark without realizing it - why make it harder for yourself?

2.  Use your cam to look in all the nooks and crannies.  Also, some of the landmarks can be pretty laggy so this helps.

3.  ***BONUS HINT***  Ctr+shft+r   I'm not sure what this is called but a very helpful little witch showed me this setting when I was as close as I've come to giving up.  Once your eyes adjust to the new view this makes the little hunt items stick out from the rest of the world.  Tricky and very helpful!

There are 125 items on the Witches Brew hunt and I am currently searched for number #111 (and I already have #118, which I found by accident while I was lost!).  Almost there!  I felt a touch of dread when it occured to me at about #75 that (as I have yet to open a single item) I have no idea the quality of the prizes I have been so passionately pursuing!  I'll have to keep my fingers crossed - there's no turning back now!  I'll be sure to add some pictures of my prizes when I get home and unpack.  This will be a chore in and of itself!

Little cauldrons - come out, come out wherever you are!
I'm not sure how many more hunts I'll complete - this is exhausting!  I'm so curious though, I find it hard to resist.  Thank Buddha curiosity never killed the fae.   Right?  Right?!  :)

Happy Hunting!
